Audi Repair

Sometimes it seems like each and every import shop works on Volkswagen and Audi vehicles. Even shops often think of these as simple cars, perhaps remembering the straightforward service needs of the classic VW Bug.

Today, however, Volkswagen Audi Group (VAG) automobiles are highly complex precision machines, incorporating computer and electronic systems in powertrain management, braking/traction control, automatic climate controls, and entertainment packages that are just as sophisticated as the highest-end European luxury cars. These systems are connected via computer networks just as complicated as Mercedes Benz and BMW, in most cases. As such, efficiently work can be done on VAG cars only by trained, experienced technicians using factory diagnostic software and manufacturers service information, who work on these cars every day and have a deep well of expertise.

Continental Imports has a VAG team that only works on VW and Audi cars.  By exclusively servicing these vehicles, they will and have become thoroughly trained and experienced on their systems and workshop procedures. VAG cars often have totally unique tooling and repair procedures—for example, the front end of the car has to be removed or set back to allow technicians access to perform many cooling system, timing belt, and other system repairs. Experience with these procedures reduces the time required and ensures that a quality repairs occur every time.

Like so many import specialists, for many years Continental Imports used the top-quality aftermarket computer software, called VAG COM, to diagnose, code, and initialize repair procedures. The VAG cars were the last of the German cars Continental specializes in to require use of proprietary Audi/VW diagnostic computers.

About ten years ago, Continental Imports received its VW site ID and dealer code.  It also registered for and received access credentials for Geko, VAG’s online server in Germany. This access is required to program new modules and gain security access needed for keys and immobilizers.  Through the subsequent years, Continental Imports has maintained its VAG credentials and kept yearly subscriptions for software updates.

In 2014, Audi/VW redesigned their software (called VAS PC) and created a new system, called ODIS.  ODIS was designed to run on Windows 7 and as such a new tool was required.  In early 2015, Continental Imports acquired the VAS 6150C Tablet computer running ODIS.
